Patient first in North Texas to receive new heart failure device
UT Southwestern Medical Center's Heart Transplant Program continues to rank among the best in the nation in survival rates for post-transplant patients.
Since our Heart Transplant Program began in 1988, surgeons have performed over 350 transplant operations. UT Southwestern has consistently ranked among the top 10 in the United States, and our three-year survival rate – 89.2 percent – exceeds the national average (79.7 percent).
Our heart transplant specialists work within a team of physicians who specialize in all aspects of cardiovascular, imaging and transplantation medicine. UT Southwestern's transplant specialists also provide the ongoing medical management and care needed for patients who are waiting for a transplant as well as for those who have already received a transplant.
The collaborative efforts of physicians, nursing coordinators, dietitians, social workers and other counselors enables the heart transplant program to excel in providing superior care to each patient. Practicing in one of the nation's leading medical and research facilities, UT Southwestern’s physicians provide each of our patients with an individual, personalized approach to treatment.
