UT Southwestern Medical Center’s extensive experience in joint replacement rehabilitation enables us to provide comprehensive and effective physical therapy for total knee replacements, as well as for hip, shoulder or ankle replacement surgery. Our rehabilitation specialists have the expertise required to help patients recover their mobility, as well as attain high levels of function and independence.

Our rehabilitation programs are designed to meet patients’ individual needs. Therapies and education will enable them to achieve an improved quality of life. Patients who have been a part of our knee replacement therapy program, as well as for other joint replacements, have enjoyed extraordinary results - including a quicker recovery and reduced symptoms and pain.

UT Southwestern’s inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation programs help ease the transition for patients going from the hospital to their homes. Rehabilitation specialists help plan for the patient’s post-operative treatment and health-care needs. If needed, a social worker can help make arrangements for home assistance services, including in-home therapy and nursing services, as well as attendants to help with daily living needs.

Family members also play a vital role in patients’ rehabilitation. Our staff provides families with information about support groups and other resources that are an integral part of our rehabilitation program for all joint replacement patients.

UT Southwestern combines state-of-the-art clinical resources with a caring staff of medical professionals to provide an individualized rehabilitation program after joint replacement surgery.
