The Division of Pediatric Gastroenterology and Nutrition at UT Southwestern Medical Center offers comprehensive care for infants, children and adolescents with gastrointestinal, pancreatic and hepatic disorders. Clinical services are provided at the Center for Pediatric Gastroenterology and Nutrition at Children's Medical Center Dallas on an inpatient and outpatient basis and at a satellite clinic in Plano.

Specific programs have been designed and implemented for the treatment of multiple disorders, including:

  • Celiac disease
  • Chronic child diarrhea and more
  • Chronic recurrent abdominal pain
  • Child constipation and encopresis
  • Gastrointestinal vascular anomalies and chronic bleeding
  • Inflammatory bowel disease
  • Irritable bowel syndrome
  • Liver disease and transplantation
  • Pancreatic and biliary tract disease
  • Short bowel syndrome and intestinal failure
  • Vomiting and gastroesophageal reflux disease

The center contains a fully equipped GI lab that can provide a number of services, including endoscopy and biopsy, colonoscopy, Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography (ERCP), Percutaneous Endoscopic Gastrostomy (PEG) placement, 24-hour esophageal pH and impedance monitoring, lactose and urea breath testing, polypectomy, esophageal dilatation, endoscopic management of GI bleeding and coin and foreign body removal.
