UT Southwestern Medical Center’s Child Abuse Program encompasses the Referral and Evaluation of Abused Children (REACH) clinic at Children’s Medical Center Dallas. This clinic is staffed by specially trained physicians as well as pediatric nurse practitioners, all of whom are experienced in recognizing the signs of child abuse and neglect and intervening when appropriate.

The clinic’s goal is not only to treat patients with the highest quality of care, but also to identify children who are at risk and make appropriate referrals. If abuse or neglect is determined in any patient treated at the clinic, child welfare services will be contacted. There is no charge to the family for evaluation or necessary tests.

Also included in the child abuse program is the Foster Care Clinic at Children’s Medical Center. This clinic is staffed by physicians and pediatric nurse practitioners experienced in treating foster care children who are abused or neglected. The clinic provides comprehensive primary medical care and case management services to children in the custody of Texas Child Protective Services.
