Our team of maternal-fetal medicine specialists has the expertise to manage the tough obstetrical cases. With years of experience caring for women who are at high risk for complications during pregnancy, we offer the latest diagnostic and treatment options, including specialized in utero procedures. We also accept high-risk patients for total obstetrical care and manage a maternal transport service at UT Southwestern University Hospital-St. Paul for patients with maternal or fetal complications requiring hospitalization or delivery at a tertiary care center with a Level IIIB nursery.

 

Robyn Horsager-Boehrer

Robyn Horsager-Boehrer, M.D, is a Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Medical Director of the High-Risk Obstetrics and Prenatal Genetics program, and Chief of Obstetrics and Gynecology at UT Southwestern University Hospital - St. Paul. She earned her medical degree at the University of Illinois College of Medicine and completed her residency and fellowship training in obstetrics and gynecology and maternal-fetal medicine at Parkland Memorial Hospital and UT Southwestern Medical Center.

Dr. Horsager holds the Luis Lieb, MD Professorship in Obstetrics and Gynecology. She is board certified in obstetrics and gynecology as well as maternal-fetal medicine and is a member of the American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, Society for Maternal-Fetal Medicine, and American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine.

As part of the maternal-fetal medicine team, Dr. Horsager's primary focus is ultrasonography and prenatal diagnosis. She has many years of experience caring for women who are at high risk for developing problems during pregnancy. As a mother of twins herself, she offers her patients a unique perspective on the management and delivery of multi-fetal pregnancies.


M. Ashley Hickman Zink, M.D.

M. Ashley Hickman Zink, MD, is an Assistant Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology and a specialist in maternal-fetal medicine. A 2003 graduate of UT Southwestern Medical School, she completed her residency in obstetrics and gynecology at UT Southwestern Medical Center, followed by a three-year fellowship in maternal-fetal medicine at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill.

Dr. Hickman Zinks’s professional affiliations include the Society for Maternal-Fetal Medicine, the International Fetal Medicine and Surgery Society, and the American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists.

Dr. Hickman Zink sees patients at the UT Southwestern Maternal-Fetal Medicine program at Children’s Medical Center at Legacy in Plano, where she provides the full spectrum of maternal-fetal medicine consultative services. This includes management of pre-existing maternal medical conditions that may adversely affect the mother or her unborn child, and conditions that arise during pregnancy such as gestational diabetes or pre-term labor.

She provides detailed ultrasound assessments of fetal anatomy, specialized ultrasounds for aneuploidy screening, and more invasive procedures such as amniocentesis, chorionic villus sampling (CVS), percutaneous umbilical blood sampling (PUBS), intrauterine transfusion, or shunting procedures when indicated.

Dr. Hickman Zink works closely with each patient’s primary obstetrician as well as pediatric subspecialists at Children’s Medical Center to determine optimal strategies for ongoing prenatal evaluation, delivery planning, and postnatal management. She enjoys being able to provide preconception or inter-pregnancy counseling to help high risk families plan for a healthy pregnancy.

In her free time, Dr. Hickman Zink enjoys baking, scrapbooking, traveling, and outdoor activities like hiking and canoeing. She is active in her church and volunteers with the Dallas Pregnancy Resource Center. She speaks English and conversational Spanish.


Julie Lo

Julie Lo, MD, is an Associate Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at UT Southwestern Medical Center. She earned her medical degree and completed her residency in obstetrics and gynecology at UT Southwestern and followed that with a fellowship in maternal-fetal medicine here.

Dr. Lo is board certified in both obstetrics and gynecology and in maternal-fetal medicine. She is also a member of several organizations including the American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologist, and the Society for Maternal-Fetal Medicine.

During her time at UT Southwestern, Dr. Lo has developed an interest in multiple gestations, complex maternal complications, and labor induction. As part of the maternal-fetal medicine team, she provides prenatal services including preconceptional counseling and consultation as well as delivery of pregnant women who require the unique expertise of adult and pediatric subspecialists at UT Southwestern Medical Center and Children’s Medical Center.

Dr. Lo will work with your obstetrician to develop a treatment plan and co-manage your care throughout your pregnancy. She is one of the few maternal-fetal medicine specialists in Dallas who welcomes the opportunity to provide total obstetrical care. This allows her the chance to follow you throughout your entire pregnancy and the privilege to be present at your delivery at UT Southwestern’s University Hospital-St.Paul.

When she’s not working, Dr. Lo enjoys spending time with her family and friends.


Patricia Santiago-Munoz, M.D.

Patricia Santiago-Muñoz, MD, is an Associate Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at UT Southwestern Medical Center. She received her medical degree from the University of Puerto Rico School of Medicine and completed a residency in obstetrics and gynecology at the University of Puerto Rico, where she was chief resident.

After two years in academic and private practice, where she was honored by her residents with the American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists faculty award, she moved to Dallas and completed a fellowship in maternal-fetal medicine at UT Southwestern.

Dr. Santiago-Muñoz is a Diplomate of the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology and a Fellow of the American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. She is also a member of the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine and a Fellow of the Society for Maternal-Fetal Medicine.

Dr. Santiago-Muñoz speaks French and Spanish. She provides the full spectrum of prenatal diagnostic and evaluation services and also accepts and delivers high-risk obstetrical patients at UT Southwestern’s University Hospital-St. Paul.

Women with chronic illnesses such as diabetes, hypertension, lupus, cancer, or multiple sclerosis are at risk for developing complications during pregnancy. If you have an existing medical condition, or if you develop a complication unique to pregnancy that may affect you or your baby, Dr. Santiago-Muñoz will work with your obstetrician to develop a treatment plan during your pregnancy, at delivery, and after birth. She will co-manage your care with your obstetrician as well as with adult and pediatric subspecialists. Should your situation warrant a complete transfer of care, she will accept you as an obstetrical patient for delivery at University Hospital-St. Paul.


Michael Zaretsky, M.D.

Michael Zaretsky, MD, is an Associate Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at UT Southwestern Medical Center.

Since completing his fellowship training in maternal-fetal medicine at UT Southwestern in 2004, Dr. Michael Zaretsky has been helping women who are at high risk for developing complications during their pregnancies.   

At the UT Southwestern Maternal-Fetal Medicine program at Children’s Medical Center at Legacy in Plano, he offers the full spectrum of maternal-fetal medicine services, including preconception and prenatal counseling and diagnostic procedures like ultrasound imaging, amniocentesis, chorionic villus sampling (CVS), and fetal blood sampling.

Dr. Zaretsky specializes in the management of medical conditions that may adversely affect a pregnant woman as well as her unborn child.  In some cases, treatment can be performed before birth.  In others, Dr. Zaretsky works closely with pediatric subspecialists at UT Southwestern and Children’s Medical Center to coordinate care for newborns who need specialized treatment following delivery. He works closely with adult subspecialists as well as with pediatric subspecialists at Children’s Medical Center to develop a treatment plan. In some cases, treatment can be performed before birth with minimally invasive in utero procedures. In others, newborns that need specialized treatment following delivery are transferred to the care of pediatric subspecialists at Children’s Medical Center.

Board certified in obstetrics and gynecology and maternal-fetal medicine, Dr. Zaretsky joined the faculty at UT Southwestern Medical Center in 2006 following two years in private practice.  

Dr. Zaretsky received his bachelor of science degree from Youngstown State University in Ohio and his and medical degree from the Northeastern Ohio Medical University. In 1997, he moved to Dallas where he completed residency training at Baylor University Medical Center prior to beginning his fellowship in maternal-fetal medicine at UT Southwestern.  

Dr. Zaretsky is a member of the American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, the Society for Maternal-Fetal Medicine, the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine and the International Society of Ultrasound in Obstetrics and Gynecology. He is the local principal investigator for the North American Fetal Therapy Network (NAFTNet.org) and is a member of the International Fetal Medicine and Surgical Society (IFMSS).
