Finding the right pulmonologist is a critical aspect to treating a patient’s lung condition. A pulmonologist must have the expertise needed to effectively treat the condition, manage symptoms and help control risk factors for developing any complications related to the progression of lung disease.

UT Southwestern Medical Center’s lung specialists work in conjunction with a primary care physician to coordinate a patient’s care and ensure continuity of care during diagnostic examinations, lung treatments or surgery, if needed, as well as post-treatment pulmonary rehabilitation activities.

Our program for treating lung conditions and diseases is diligent in making referral arrangements between the primary care physician and a UT Southwestern pulmonologist.

Whether the patient has asthma, cystic fibrosis, emphysema, interstitial lung disease, lung cancer, neuromuscular disease, occupational lung disease, pulmonary hypertension or a sleep disorder, UT Southwestern will work with the primary care physician to arrange to have the right pulmonologist available to treat the condition and improve overall health.

UT Southwestern’s lung specialists have extensive experience treating the full spectrum of lung conditions and diseases, and the medical center is a major referral site for patients with the most complex lung conditions.

Our medical staff will assist with the secure and timely transfer of medical records and test results to our offices.
