UT Southwestern Medical Center’s ocular oncologists use the latest diagnostic technologies for eye cancer. They work closely with other medical, surgical and radiation oncologists and utilize the latest state-of-the-art treatment modalities.

Eye cancer is relatively rare. Some ocular cancers originate in the eye, but many eye cancers spread to the eye from another part of the body; for instance, some originate as melanomas. Most ocular cancers occur in people older than 50.

Some of the eye cancers treated at UT Southwestern include:

  • Choroidal tumors (hemangioma, metastasis, nevus melanoma)
  • Conjunctival tumors
  • Eyelid tumors
  • Iris tumors
  • Lacrimal gland tumors
  • Optic nerve tumors
  • Orbital tumors
  • Retina tumors, such as retinoblastnoma
  • Tumors metastatic to the eye
  • Tumors of the optic nerve
  • Tumors related to leukemia and lymphoma
