UT Southwestern Medical Center’s Neuroendocrine/Thyroid Program offers patients expert and compassionate care for hyperthyroidism, hypothyroidism, Addison’s disease, Cushing’s syndrome, Grave’s disease, and all disorders of the adrenal gland, pancreas, pituitary, thyroid and parathyroid glands.

Our Neuroendocrine/Thyroid Program offers comprehensive hormone testing and radiological studies that help physicians accurately diagnose and effectively design a specific treatment plan for each patient. The full range of diagnostic and therapeutic techniques for the treatment of thyroid and other neuroendocrine disorders is available within the UT Southwestern Medical Center campus, enabling patients to obtain their consultations, examinations and treatments in a single location.

UT Southwestern’s Neuroendocrine/Thyroid Program is one of the leading centers in the U.S. for performing adrenalectomies using minimally invasive, laparoscopic surgery. Advantages of the laparoscopic technique include decreased postoperative pain, a shorter hospital stay, and a quicker return to normal activities. The average length of the hospital stay is two or three days compared to a week or more with a traditional, open surgical technique.

Our Neuroendocrine/Thyroid Program offers advanced care and treatment for neuroendocrine cancer, including carcinoid tumors, Merkel cell carcinoma and neuroendocrine carcinomas. Depending on the patient’s specific condition, our specialists provide effective treatments that may involve chemotherapy, radiation therapy or surgical procedures to suppress or regulate the body’s production of hormones.
