UT Southwestern Medical Center physicians take complex medical information about Lap Band surgery and describe it to patients in easy-to-understand terms. In addition, we also offer patients access to educational materials that will help them to learn more about weight loss surgery and why they are candidates for the treatment prescribed.
Patient education can make a significant difference in how patients approach Lap Band surgery. In addition to access to UT Southwestern’s health-care professionals, patients may consult other educational materials to better understand what to expect before, during and after treatment.
An information session discussing three weight-loss programs offered by UT Southwestern — The Liquid Protein Diet, Medical Weight Loss and Bariatric Surgery — will be held Thursdays at 5:45 p.m. twice per month starting Sept. 13, 2007 at UT Southwestern University Hospital - Zale Lipshy. Patients must attend one session before making an appointment with a surgeon. Anyone who cannot attend or would like more information, should call 214-645-2900.
