Hospitals and Clinics
Residents and fellows in the UT Southwestern Medical School, the UT Southwestern Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences, and the UT Southwestern School of Health Professions learn under the guidance of faculty physicians while treating patients in six hospitals and numerous clinics. Each of the hospitals staffed by UT Southwestern provides opportunities for a well-rounded clinical experience.
Clinics and Ambulatory Care
UT Southwestern’s clinics offer a full range of services for our patients, providing individual care for specific disorders while delivering access to the latest medical breakthroughs. Staffed with physicians, nurses, and other health professionals who specialize in coordinating your care with your primary physician’s directives, our outpatient clinics offer a full range of services for our patients. They are dedicated to providing compassionate care for all of our patients, and the clinics work in conjunction with all of UT Southwestern’s disciplines to provide the highest levels of care available.
University Hospital–St. Paul
UT Southwestern University Hospital–St. Paul ranks #1 in Texas for survival rates for heart transplants and in the top 5% of programs in the country. A 300-bed facility, it also offers specialty practices in cardiology, emergency medicine, internal medicine, general surgery, orthopaedics, and gynecology and obstetrics, as well as a level III neonatal intensive care unit.
University Hospital– Zale Lipshy
A 149-bed specialty hospital, UT Southwestern University Hospital–Zale Lipshy is one of the world's premier neurological treatment centers and includes a neuroangiography unit, which is key to the diagnosis and treatment of neurological disease. Other specialties at University Hospital-Zale Lipshy include hematologic malignancies, urology, ophthalmology, and rehabilitation.
Parkland Memorial Hospital
As Dallas County's only public hospital, this 983-bed facility has a large patient base. U.S. News & World Report has ranked Parkland Memorial Hospital among "America's Best Hospitals" for 18 consecutive years. Parkland is the primary teaching institution for UT Southwestern Medical School, and UT Southwestern faculty are responsible for the care and treatment of all hospital patients as well as outpatient care at Parkland’s 10 community clinics.
Children's Medical Center
A private, nonprofit institution, Children's Medical Center deals exclusively with children from birth to age 18. The only pediatric hospital in the Southwest with a designated Level 1 trauma center, Children’s has more than 400 beds and also houses more than 50 specialty clinics. U.S. News & World Report has ranked Children's among the top hospitals nationwide in pediatric care.
Dallas Veterans Affairs Medical Center
A general hospital with 544 beds, the Dallas VAMC, contains an acute care medical center, transitional care unit, spinal cord injury center, telemetry unit, and residential psychiatric unit. Through a longstanding partnership with UT Southwestern, the Dallas VAMC trains over 700 medical residents yearly.
Harold C. Simmons Cancer Center
The only NCI-designated Cancer Center in North Texas, the Simmons Cancer Center is offers 13 clinical care programs, each providing a wide range of integrated patient-care services.
William P. Clements Jr. University Hospital
The William P. Clements Jr. University Hospital will be designed not only around what the medical center is really good at, but also what Dallas really needs.
Meticulously designed to bring together exceptional patient care and world-renowned research, the William P. Clements Jr. University Hospital is carefully planned to provide both state-of-the-art medical care and patient comfort. Scheduled to open in 2015, the new University Hospital will feature 13 stories with 460 patient rooms, each equipped with monitors for viewing charts and images, such as x-rays and MRI; multimedia options, including patient internet access; and seating areas for family and visitors.
