DALLAS – November 4, 2016 – UT Southwestern Medical Center has received three major health care awards, including recognitions for being among the top 5 percent of hospitals on quality measures during 2016 and for top patient satisfaction scores.

The awards are from Press Ganey, a national consulting firm specializing in health care performance and patient satisfaction. This is the sixth year UT Southwestern has received awards from Press Ganey, which partners with more than 22,000 health care facilities to measure and improve patient experience and quality of care.

“These awards recognize our dedication to quality and commitment to excellence, and are a reflection of the outstanding service and care we deliver to patients,” said Dr. Daniel K. Podolsky, President of UT Southwestern, who holds the Philip O'Bryan Montgomery, Jr., M.D. Distinguished Presidential Chair in Academic Administration, and the Doris and Bryan Wildenthal Distinguished Chair in Medical Science.

UT Southwestern received three awards:

• Zale Lipshy University Hospital received the Pinnacle of Excellence Award in Patient Experience for maintaining consistently high levels of excellence over multiple years in inpatient care. The award is presented to the top three performing organizations by category on the basis of extraordinary achievement. About 40 organizations receive the award annually.
• Zale Lipshy University Hospital also received the Guardian of Excellence Award in Quality for reaching the 95th percentile of clients for patient experience, employee or physician engagement, or clinical quality performance – awarded annually based on a year of data.
• UT Southwestern received the Community Response Award, along with Parkland Health & Hospital System, for caregivers who rise to the occasion during times of crisis and support their communities during difficult times.
