Becker’s ranks UTSW among nation’s 100 best hospitals

UT Southwestern has been named one of the nation’s 100 Best Hospitals according to Becker’s Hospital Review, a leading source of cutting-edge business and legal information for health care industry leaders.

Our rich history, renowned faculty, and forward-thinking patient care all contributed to UT Southwestern’s place on Becker’s list.

The publication stated the Medical Center has “one of the most renowned faculties of physicians, scientists, and researchers in the south,” noting UT Southwestern’s five Nobel Prizes laureates, 19 members of the National Academy of Sciences, and 18 members of the Institute of Medicine.” In addition, the publication mentions that the medical school has grown exponentially since 1943, when it was officially formed as the 68th medical school.

The 2014 list of Becker’s “100 Great Hospitals in America” was developed by the publication’s editorial team who researched and evaluated reputable hospital ranking sources, such as U.S. News & World Report, Truven Health Analytics’ 100 Top Hospitals, Healthgrades, Magnet designation by the American Nurses Credentialing Center, and The LeapFrog Group.

UT Southwestern was one of only two North Texas hospitals to make the list.
