Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society

The UT Southwestern Medical School chapter of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society recently inducted 38 new members at its annual banquet in the A.W. Harris Faculty and Alumni Center.

AOA members are selected based upon high academic standing, leadership among peers, professionalism, a firm sense of ethics, promise of future success in medicine, and a commitment to service in the school and community.

The 2017 inductees were presented at the Gamma Chapter of Texas banquet by Dr. Kevin Klein, Professor of Anesthesiology and Pain Management and of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, and Gamma Chapter Councilor for UT Southwestern, along with Dr. Angela Mihalic, Associate Dean of Student Affairs and Professor of Pediatrics.

Dr. Brian H. Williams, Associate Professor of Surgery and a member of Parkland Memorial Hospital’s trauma team, presented the Lyman E. Bilhartz, M.D., AOA Lecture, “Bridging Cultural Gaps in America: The Intersection of Race, Violence, and Medicine.”

Dr. Williams also was one of six faculty members inducted into AOA, joining Dr. Abier A. Abdelnaby, Associate Professor of Surgery; Dr. Reeni Abraham, Assistant Professor of Internal Medicine and Co-Director of the Internal Medicine Clerkship; Dr. David M. Owens, Assistant Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology; Dr. Michael Anthony Ramsay, Clinical Professor of Anesthesiology and Pain Management; and Dr. Ilana Joy Zeltser, Associate Professor of Pediatrics.
