Cyclotron Groundbreaking
Breaking ground for the Biomedical Cyclotron Facility for Research in late November were (from left) Dr. Daniel K. Podolsky, President of UT Southwestern; Dr. Neil Rofsky, Chairman of Radiology and Director of Translational Research for the Advanced Imaging Research Center; and Dr. J. Gregory Fitz, Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs, Provost, and Dean of UT Southwestern Medical School. The facility, located in the Bill and Rita Clements Advanced Medical Imaging Building, is slated to open December 2014. Cyclotron technology will enable noninvasive research of physiological processes and abnormalities and will help facilitate the translation of basic biomedical research into clinical practice with an emphasis on cancer.
