By Ali V. Adams
Holly Ragan, Director of Health Care Planning and Design, recently was named one of the Top 12 Women in Health Care by the Health Industry Council of the North Texas Region.
n its inaugural year, the award honors those who have made significant contributions to the health care industry.
Ms. Ragan manages health care programming, planning and design for new construction and renovation projects. Her work involves everything from planning inpatient units to renovating ambulatory clinics, such as the new Radiation Oncology Clinic and the Women’s Center on the fifth floor of Professional Office Building 2. Current projects include the new University Hospital and strategic campus master planning.
“I love working with people in health care. After listening to physicians’ needs and patients’ challenges, I feel that planning a building is like telling a series of stories,” Ms. Ragan said. “I’m very proud of how we, as a university, have planned the new University Hospital, and I think the work we are doing is making a difference.”
She joined the University Hospital Planning Team in June 2006 after being recruited from FKP Architects. While with FKP, she worked on the Outpatient Building at UT Southwestern as an architectural planner.
More than 100 women were nominated for the award from all sectors of the health care industry.
