Herz hits the road for Alzheimer's research
Dr. Joachim Herz, director of the Center for Alzheimer’s and Neurodegenerative Diseases, prepares to leave downtown Dallas recently for the 200-plus mile ride to Oklahoma City — in triple-digit heat — as part of the Alzheimer’s Breakthrough Ride. Alzheimer’s researchers are cycling from San Francisco to Washington, D.C., to raise research funding for and awareness of the disease that afflicts an estimated 5.3 million Americans. Riders will gather in the nation’s capital on Sept. 21, World Alzheimer’s Day. Dr. Herz, an avid cyclist, holds the Thomas O. and Cinda Hicks Family Distinguished Chair in Alzheimer’s Disease Research.
