By the numbers
Features of the new University Hospital will include:
424 patient rooms, which is about 150 more than current capacity at UT Southwestern University Hospitals;
40 rooms in the emergency department, including a mass casualty area, resuscitation rooms, dedicated rooms for eye, hand and orthopaedic exams, psychiatric isolation room, on-site helipad, and wireless Internet access in the waiting rooms;
24 surgical suites, ranging from 700 square feet to 1,000 square feet on two floors;
72 intensive care beds with dedicated areas for family members;
12 cardiac catheterization and interventional procedure rooms;
6 endoscopy suites;
424 patient rooms, which is about 150 more than current capacity at UT Southwestern University Hospitals;
30,000 square feet of teaching space; and
450 spaces in the parking garage, including valet parking services.
