Broberg, Quiat share GSO poster session honors
Christopher Broberg and Daniel Quiat were co-winners in the 2010 Graduate Student Poster Session
Christopher Broberg and Daniel Quiat were co-winners in the 2010 Graduate Student Poster Session, an event sponsored by the UT Southwestern Graduate Student Organization to encourage students to learn to display research information in poster format.
Mr. Quiat’s mentor for his genetics and development poster was Dr. Kim Orth, associate professor of molecular biology and biochemistry. Dr. Eric Olson, chairman of molecular biology, mentored Mr. Broberg on his molecular microbiology entry.
Joining them as the top five winners of the competition were Anita Autry (neuroscience), mentored by Dr. Lisa Monteggia, associate professor of psychiatry; Gamze Bulut (genetics and development), mentored by Dr. Lily Huang, assistant professor of cell biology; and Christopher Smith (genetics and development), mentored by Dr. Michelle Tallquist, associate professor of molecular biology.
The poster session was held in conjunction with the 42nd Annual Sigma Xi Abstract Competition, sponsored by the science honor society. The co-winners in the abstract contest were Banu Eskiocak (cancer biology), mentored by Dr. Michael White, professor of cell biology; Ruei-Jiun Hung (neuroscience), mentored by Dr. Jon Terman, assistant professor of neuroscience and pharmacology; Nida Iqbal (genetics and development), mentored by Dr. Chun-Li Zhang, assistant professor of molecular biology; Lilja Kjalarsdottir (integrative biology), mentored by Dr. Joyce Repa, associate professor of physiology and internal medicine; Joel Thompson (biological chemistry), mentored by Dr. Richard Bruick, associate professor of biochemistry; and Victoria Ulrich (integrative biology), mentored by Dr. Philip Shaul, professor of pediatrics.
