Simplicity in Intricacy
By Ambereen Ahmed
Ambereen Ahmed, M.D., Class of 2018, is a first-year medical student who graduated from the University of Houston with a minor in Studio Art. During her classes, she realized that drawing nude figures allows us to see the human body in its simplest form – no distractions, no statements by apparel, just simply the unfaltering human physique. She believes that the world should be seen through different perspectives. As students of medicine, our perspective can sometimes be mechanical. Looking at the world through the lens of an artist can allow you to see things for what they really are. She continues her pursuit as an artist in her spare time and recently has sold many of her pieces.
