Anirudh Sethi

 
 

Research:

We have identified that fucosylated cell surface glycans serve as the receptor for Cholera toxin subunit B (CTB) in colon epithelial cells (Wands AM et. al. eLife 2015). GM1 is the canonical and most well studied CTB receptor. In fact, CTB utilizes GM1 as its receptor in cells that express high levels of GM1. GM1 is present at low to undetectable concentrations in the colon epithelial cells. My research is focused on understanding the internalization mechanism of CTB in colon epithelial cells, specifically in presence of GM1.
