The postdoctoral researcher at UT Southwestern conducts research under the general oversight of a senior scholar in preparation for a career as an academic or research scientist, or other positions industry, government, or the nonprofit sector requiring advanced knowledge and training in a scientific discipline. The postdoctoral appointee has the freedom, and is expected, to publish the results of his/her research during the period of the appointment.
