UT Southwestern Annual Awards
Graduate Students
- Nominata Award
Annually, the Committee on Graduate Student Awards selects a graduate student who has demonstrated academic excellence and research achievement at UT Southwestern. The awarded receives the Nominata Award, $2000, which in addition to the significant recognition, presents the Nominata Lecture to faculty and students at the University Lecture Series venue.
- Ida M. Green Award
The Ida M. Green Award was established in 1987 with a bequest from Mrs. Green to Southwestern Medical Foundation. With encouragement from her husband, Cecil Green, the award was established to acknowledge a female student in the UT Southwestern Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences who has demonstrated an outstanding commitment to the well-being of other students, to research excellence, and to exceptional community service activities. The honor comes with a $2000 award.
The purpose of the poster session is to encourage each the graduate students to learn the very important skill of poster display and presentation. Prizes awarded include $250.00 each for the top 4 posters, 5 Honorable Mention Prizes of $100 each and for the Best in Show - a $250.00 cash prize and $500.00 travel award scholarship. The Sigma Xi competition, offers the opportunity to compose an abstract to explain the research project. The top 6 student entries will be awarded a cash prize of $250.00 and a student membership to Sigma Xi, The Scientific Research Society.
