Biography

Dr. Schneider is an attending physician caring for newborn infants at Parkland Hospital. He also is Vice President, Chief Medical Information Officer and Medical Director of Clinical Informatics for Baylor University Health System in Dallas. In this position he guides and supports the implementation of clinical information systems at Baylor’s hospitals and physician offices in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex. His academic interest is on the safety of EHRs and personal health records systems for pediatrics. Dr. Schneider is Past Chair of the Executive Committee of the AAP Council on Clinical Information Technology. He also regularly co-chairs Documentation Challenges of ambulatory electronic health records (EHRs). He authored the #1 AAP Chapter Resolution of 2003, recommending the AAP take a leadership position in the development and implementation of pediatric EHRs. In Texas, Dr. Schneider is a member of the Board of Directors of the Texas Pediatric Society and chair of the Texas Medical Association Ad Hoc Committee on Health information Technology. Dr. Schneider attended medical school in Atlanta at Emory University, graduating at the top of his class. He has an MBA from Columbia University with 15 years of business experience prior to medical school, most recently as general manager of a startup medical device company. Dr. Schneider is a competitive racewalker and in 2004 finished first in the Houston 1500 meters Senior Olympic racewalk. He has been married for 33 years and loves to go on slow walks in Dallas with his wife and their dog.
