Biography

April Liehr Townsley, MA, received her MA in Communication Sciences and Disorders from the University of Texas at Austin. Her research interest focuses on physiological correlates of auditory perception. During her graduate studies, she investigated emerging electrophysiological evidence to support a statistical model for the categorical perception of speech sounds.

Ms. Liehr Townsley currently serves as a Faculty Associate and Assistant Director for the Department of Communicative and Vestibular Disorders at UT Southwestern. There, she provides audiological, electrophysiological, and vestibular assessments for the adult and pediatric populations of Aston Ambulatory Care Center, Parkland Memorial Hospital, and Children’s Medical Center. She also serves as a member of the Parkland Memorial Hospital Universal Newborn Hearing Screening Team.
