Biography

Dr. King formerly was Executive Director/VP of Training & Development for Carlson Companies, Inc., where he was responsible for training programs planning, development, implementation, and evaluation for worldwide operations. Prior to that he was Executive Director of Training & Performance Development at BlueCross BlueShield of Texas, where he led planning, design, delivery, and evaluation of executive development, sales and technical training, and total quality management. He was Director of Training Systems Development at American Airlines Information Systems division and led an international team to develop simulations for training aircraft maintenance technicians.

Dr. King helped plan and implement the American Airlines Maintenance Academy, the first technical school devoted solely to large jet aircraft. The school, with its FAA-certified curriculum, opened six months after planning began. He later led the Instructional Design & Development and Customer Documentation departments at SABRE to develop computer-based training, on-line help, printed documentation, electronic performance support systems, video-based training, classroom training and hands-on workshops. His PhD degree in Education is from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign.
