Biography
Dr. Weakley received a Bachelor of Arts degree at the University of Texas at Austin in the Plan II Honors Program. He obtained his medical degree from the University of Texas Medical Branch, Galveston, Texas where he was an Alpha Omega Alpha graduate. After medical school, Dr. Weakley completed an internship at the University of Texas Medical Branch, Galveston, Texas in 1985. Dr. Weakley completed his residency in Ophthalmology at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in 1988, and in 1989 he completed a Pediatric Fellowship at the Children’s Hospital National Medical Center, Washington, D.C. under Marhsall M. Parks, M.D. After completing his fellowship, Dr. Weakley returned to the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas in 1989, and currently is a Professor of Ophthalmology and Chief of the Clinical Service of Ophthalmology at Children’s Medical Center of Dallas. He has numerous scientific articles and book chapters in the field of Pediatric Ophthalmology. Dr. Weakley is currently a member of the AAO, AAPOS, and AOS. He has been an associate examiner for the ABO since 1995. He is a member of the American Orthoptic Council and on the board of editors of the Journal of AAPOS.
