Biography

Dr. Taylor, Director of the Skin Surgery and Oncology Clinic at UT Southwestern, completed fellowship training in Mohs surgery and the care of patients with cutaneous malignancies in 1991. He also serves as the Director of the UT Southwestern Melanoma Center, a multidisciplinary clinic which addresses the needs of patients with melanoma and those patients at risk for developing melanoma. The majority of his time is spent caring for patients but he also is active in ongoing efforts to develop novel approaches to teaching medical trainees how to diagnose and treat skin cancers. He is responsible for the fellowship training of physicians who spend a year with him and his faculty colleagues learning how to diagnose and treat skin cancers. The majority of his trainees assume positions as academic surgeons at medical schools in the United States and in foreign countries once they complete their training. His research interests include the use of digital technologies in the surgical treatment of skin cancers, genetic causes of skin cancer and the non-surgical means of treating skin cancer.
