Biography

My research interests have been centered in Clinical Virology and the epidemiology of infectious diseases, particularly viral infections. Specifically, I am or have been interested in St. Louis encephalitis, the chemotherapy of viral infections and the occurrence and clinical manifestations of herpesviruses in renal transplant recipients. We have isolated a human enteric coronavirus (HEC)from the stool of an infant with necrotizing enterocolitis. This virus is in the process of being prepared as a virus stock and will eventually be submitted to the AYCC. Its role in the pathogenesis of human illness needs to be determined.
