Biography

Jason Fish, MD, MSHS, is an Assistant Professor of Internal Medicine, and Director of Outpatient Quality and Safety for the UT Southwestern General Internal Medicine practice. He did his internal medicine training at UCLA and is a graduate of the Robert Wood Johnson Clinical Scholars Program at UCLA, earning a Master of Science in Health Services Research from the UCLA School of Public Health. He practices General Internal Medicine with a passionate commitment to providing physician-patient partnered primary care that aims to be the most patient-centered as possible. Before joining UTSW, he was on faculty for 3 years at UCLA as a general internist and a translational researcher focused on the patient centered medical home and anticoagulation management in the ambulatory setting, earning him national recognition as well as an invited participant as a chapter writer of the Chest AT9 guidelines.  Joining UTSW faculty as the Director of Outpatient Quality and Safety, with expertise in quality improvement using LEAN and Six Sigma methodology and continued interest in quality metrics and measurement, he will assist UTSW General Internal Medicine continue its pursuit of excellent primary care delivery within its already nationally recognized NCQA Level 3 Patient Centered Medical Home. In addition, with experience teaching principles of QI to medical students and residents, and mentoring faculty, residents and students in translational research projects, he will help facilitate an quality improvement and patient safety educational program for residents and medical students.
