Biography

Vanthaya N. Gan, MD is a Professor of Pediatrics at UT Southwestern Medical Center of Dallas (UTSW). Since completing her residency in Pediatrics and fellowship in Ambulatory Pediatrics training at UTSW, she has distinguished herself in teaching, service and research at UTSW and beyond. The Director of the Medical Student Teaching Clinic at Children’s Medical Center (CMC) since 1984, the Associate Director of Pediatric Clerkships at UTSW since 1988, and the attending faculty of the CMC Residency Continuity Clinic for almost 20 years, Dr. Gan has been repeatedly recognized for her excellence in teaching. Dr. Gan extends her dedication to medicine through her involvement in research. She is involved in such diverse projects as the Dallas school-based Asthma Screening Project, the study of MRSA carrier stage in medical students, and the psychiatric symptomology in caregivers of children with asthma. Her special areas of interest include medical education, dermatology, asthma, and infectious disease.
