Biography

Jason Park grew up near Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and went to college at Penn State. He completed a combined MD and PhD program at Thomas Jefferson University. His thesis research was focused on tissue-specific transcriptional regulation and developing biomarkers for diagnosing and treating gastrointestinal malignancies. After medical school he pursued further training as a resident in the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. In addition to his clinical training, he was involved in a research program for laboratory miniaturization technology and served as the co-director of the Center for Biomedical Micro and Nanotechnology. After residency, he was a fellow in gastrointestinal and liver pathology at Johns Hopkins Hospital. Currently, he serves on the Instrumentation Resource Committee and the Standards Committee of the College of American Pathologists (CAP). He is also the CAP liaison to the International Standards Organization (ISO) Technical Committee on Nanotechnologies. His clinical and research interests are in the development of clinical laboratory technologies with a focus on gastrointestinal and pediatric diseases.
