 RESEARCH OVERVIEW

Dr. Ira H. Bernstein is involved in the development, analysis, validation, and application of scales (psychometric theory). In turn, this involves extensive use of multivariate statistics, e.g., factor analysis, categorical modeling, and latent variable modeling. Currently, the projects I am actively involved in include (a) assessing knowledge of childhood cancer survivors about their illness, (b) pain descriptors, (c)satisfaction of oncology patients with the Parkland Clinic,(d) impact of orthodontia upon quality of life, and (e) scales used in psychiatry, particularly the Quick Inventory of Depressive Symptomatology. Dr. Bernstein is co-author of the widely used textbook, Psychometric Theory with the late Jum C. Nunnally. He is on the editorial board of Behavioral Research Methods, Instrumentation, and Computers and Education and Psyhcological Measurements
