 RESEARCH OVERVIEW

Dr. Schwarz’ translational research interests focus on experimental combination therapy for pancreatic, hepatobiliary, and gastric cancer. His laboratory-based research has explored the use of antiangiogenic therapy alone or in combination with conventional cytotoxic chemotherapy in vivo. The strategy of combining therapeutic agents that address various targets supporting the cancer progression has led to significant delays of experimental cancer growth, with extension of survival. Currently, the laboratory focuses on mechanisms of cancer cell adhesion, migration, and invasion, that may represent promising targets to enhance anticancer effects in combination therapy with an antiangiogenic component.

 RESEARCH INTERESTS

mutimodality therapy of pancreatic, hepatobiliary and upper GI cancer
clinical outcomes after major visceral resections
antiangiogenic cancer therapy
combination therapy of experimental pancreatic cancer
integrin and fibronectin-related targets of antiangiogenic cancer therapy
