 RESEARCH OVERVIEW

RESEARCH PROJECTS

Validation of myocardial triglyceride in vivo in respect to: obesity, ethnicity, gender, and diabetes. The aim of this project is to determine the role of triglyceride deposits within myocardial cells with a focus on the development of cardiac spectroscopy to evaluate relationship between triglyceride content within cardiac muscle and myocardial function.

Response of myocardial triglyceride to pharmacological interventions or life style changes.

In vivo metabolism of hepatic triglyceride.

 RESEARCH INTERESTS

Development of noninvasive, spectroscopic tests for ectopic triglyceride with applications to myocardium skeletal muscle and liver.
Research in the field of prevention of diabetes and heart failure.
