Biography
Joined UT Southwestern: 1998
Clinical Interests: Acute Stroke Care; Cerebral Venous Sinus Thrombosis; Treatment of patients with intracranial and extracranial atherosclerotic isease, cardiac Sources of stroke, small vessel disease; moyamoya; CADASIL and cerebrovascular Vessel Dissections; The assessment of patients with Neurosonology techniques including: Transcranial and Carotid Doppler
Research: Acute Stroke Care; Cerebral Venous Sinus Thrombosis; Intracranial and Extracranial Vessel Disease; Cardiac Causes of Stroke, Small Vessel Disease, and applications of Transcranial Doppler in care of patients with radiation vasculopathy.
Education: In the past had been Fellowship Director for the Vascular Neurology Fellowship; Dr Johnson participates regularly in the teaching of medical students, residents and advance practice providers.
Specialty Role/Leadership: Dr Johnson has had multiple administrative positions throhout his career including: Section and Co-Section chief; Hospitals Neurology Chief; Cerebrovascular Diseases and Stroke Comprehensive Stroke Center medical director and co-medical director; Cerebrovascular Diseases and Stroke Clinic Medical Director
Affiliations and Awards: Dr Johnson has twice received the coveted Trephined Cranium Award for best teaching from the UTSW Department of Neurology.
