Dr. Anne Larson received her BS and MD from the University of Washington (UW). She did her preliminary training in Internal Medicine at the University of Washington, moving to San Diego for subspecialty training in Gastroenterology. While there, her research focus was HIV/hepatitis C interaction within the liver. After graduating, she did a further year of subspecialty training in Hepatology/Liver Transplantation at the University of Washington, and then joined the faculty in July, 1997. There she practiced transplant hepatology and she had a variety of clinical duties, including management of liver transplant patients, liver tumor patients, and patients with all forms of liver disease. Her research emphasis has been on improving the treatment response in patients with chronic hepatitis C virus infection. She is involved in several national studies dealing with acute liver failure from a variety of causes. In 2008, Dr. Larson relocated to serve as the Medical Director of Liver Transplantation at UT Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas. Dr. Larson is the author of multiple articles, abstracts, and chapters on issues in Hepatology and she is active in teaching.
