I received my Ph.D. degree from the University of Sao Paulo, Brazil. My main focus of interest and research was, since then, Neuroscience and Behavior. After that, I went to USA and received my post-doctoral training from Dr. Clifford Saper and Dr. Joel Elmquist, at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center/Harvard Medical School, Boston-MA. Following my post-doc, I returned to Brazil to run my own neuroanatomically-based laboratory, in the Institute of Biomedical Sciences at the University of Sao Paulo, for seven years. I’m currently an Assistant Professor at UTSW’s Division of Hypothalamic Research.
