Michael recieved his Associate Degree in Nursing from Brookhaven College in 1992 and started his nursing career at Parkland Hospital in the Neurosurgery/Trauma ICU. He worked as an ICU charge nurse, primary preceptor and mentor for 6 years. He became a neurosurgery nurse clinician and worked in that role for 3 years. He then returned to the ICU while he went back to school to get his Bachelors degree from the University of Texas at Arlington. He returned to his role as neurosurgery nurse clinician for the next 2 years before he left Parkland to help develop a neurosurgery rehabilitation program at a Long Term Acute Care facility. He then worked for a leading neuroscience company doing neurosurgical education for nurses and physicans throughout the country. He returned to the Hospital setting in 2004 after the birth of his daughter, Kendall. He helped develop the Neurosurgery program for the University of Texas Southwestern Department of Neurosurgery at Medical City Dallas Hospital. He served as a clinical case manager as well as marketer for the 2 years the Department of Neurosurgery was at Medical City. He is married and has just the one daughter. He enjoys working out, movies and humor. Michael Levy is strongly grounded in the Caring nursing theory. His concern and love for his patients and their health is one of his best attributes. He is currently taking classes towards his Masters degree with a goal of becoming an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner.
