Dr. Chin-Rang Yang was born in Taiwan in 1966. He received his Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology from National Taiwan University. He came to the United States in 1992 and received his Ph.D. in Developmental Biology & Human Oncology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1998. His thesis focused on the DNA repair mechanism in cancer cells following radiation treatment. During his postdoctoral training at the University of Rochester, Dr. Yang became interested in Genomics and Bioinformatics research. He went back to school and received his Master?s degree in Information Technology; he then joined the Institute for Genomics and Bioinformatics at the University of California-Irvine for his second postdoctoral training in Systems Biology. By combining his two academic backgrounds in biology and computer science, Dr. Yang developed the novel non-linear, enzyme-centric technique for mathematical modeling and the analysis of complex biological networks. In 2005, Dr. Yang was appointed Assistant Professor at the Simmons Comprehensive Cancer Center, University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center. He is extending his research into Systems Biology in Cancer and participates in Bioinformatics research at the Cancer Center.
