Dr. Spence was awarded the Ph.D. in Biostatistics (2004) from Southern Methodist University. Previously, he earned a Masters of Science in statistics from SMU in 2001. He attended the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston School of Medicine from 1991-94. From 1994-99, he served as a Research Assistant at the UT Medical Branch. From 1999-2004, he was a Teaching Assistant and Research Assistant in the Department of Statistical Science at SMU. His dissertation was entitled "A spatial analysis of SPECT brain imaging data: Optimal prediction in regions of interest".
