Dr. Nath is a Specialist in Clinical Microbiology, and a Fellow of the Canadian College of Microbiologists. He has in the past worked at the Henderson General Hospital, a 600-bed teaching hospital affiliated with the McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, for several years, gaining extensive experience in the areas of diagnostics and management of Infectious Diseases. He acquired skills in the supervision and consultation of clinical microbiology services, and pursued team-based research, and published in the areas of Emerging Bacterial Pathogens and Diseases. He actively participated in tutoring MD students based on the problem-based learning (PBL) methods at the McMaster University in Canada, gaining an extensive experience as a facilitator on the inegrated, PBL methods of Medical Education. He provided Basic Medical Science education to the Medical and Nursing students, and conducted didactic sessions for Medical Microbiology/ID residents at the Postgraduate level. Dr. Nath later on joined the American University of the Caribbean (AUC) School of Medicine in January 1997, and worked with the 2nd year Medical Students at the AUC educating them using his innovative methods of instruction in Medical Microbiology, while consulting about the diagnostic tests for infectious diseases in a local 80-bed hospital in St. Maarten, DWI. In the past, the AUC student body presented Dr. Nath with the A.M.S.A. "Golden Apple" awards, distinguishing him as an outstanding educator. He left AUC in December 2000, and joined the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center. In the current capacity of the Director of the Academic Medical Microbiology program (i.e., course director) for the Sophomore Medical Students at the U.T. Southwestern Medical School in Dallas, Texas, he is involved in developing the new approaches to medical education in collaboration with other Course Directors and the Department of Medical Education and Web Curriculum. He is full of ideas toward the improvement of the undergraduate medical education and provision of "students friendly" teaching of Basic Medical Sciences. His enthusiasm and passion for teaching medical students are his enviable attributes.
