Dr. Shang-Kui Xie has focused his research interests on genetics dissection of lupus pathogenesis since joining Dr. Chandra Mohan's research team. His current projects mainly revolve around the impact of different genetic backgrounds on the development of lupus. Based on scanning data from more than ten inbred strains of mice, he has identified 3 mouse strains that might potentially harbor genes that breach B-cell immune tolerance to DNA. Currently, he is working on uncovering the genetic basis for these intriguing strain differences.
