Dr. Benitez earned his medical degree and his specialty in Emergency Medicine from the University of Puerto Rico. He then pursued a fellowship in Emergency Medical Services (EMS) at the University of Texas Southwestern (UTSW) Medical Center at Dallas, Texas. During his fellowship, he also completed the coursework for a Masters Degree in Public Health from the University of Texas, Houston. After the Fellowship, he joined the Emergency Medicine Training Program at UTSW as a faculty member and became a Diplomate of the American Board of Emergency Medicine. Currently he is an Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine and serves as the Assistant Medical Director for Scene Response and Field Operations for the Dallas Metropolitan BIOTEL (EMS) System.
