Dr. Perez completed her residency in anesthesiology and pain management as well as an additional fellowship in obstetric anesthesia at UT Southwestern Medical Center before joining the faculty as an assistant professor in 1996. She interned at John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth TX after graduating from Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine (now UNT Health Science Center). She currently provides anesthesia services in the Division of Obstetric Anesthesiology at Parkland Memorial Hospital which has one of the busiest obstetric wards in the country encompassing both routine as well as high risk obstetrics. Dr. Perez also participates in the teaching and supervision of the anesthesiology residents.
