I was raised in the midwest, near Saint Louis, and received my college and medical school education at Northwestern University in Chicago. After several years of surgery training in Mississippi, I went through residency in anesthesiology here at Parkland Hospital, and received an extra year of training in Pediatric Anesthesiology at Dallas Children's Medical Center. After two years of active duty in the US Army, I spent time teaching pediatric anesthesia at the University of Mississippi, Emory University, and Washington University, and came back to Texas in 1988 to join the anesthesia group at Cook Fort Worth Children's Hospital. In 1995, I returned to Southwestern to join the faculty of the Department of Anesthesiology and Pain Management, where I am currently organizing the Anesthesia Simulation Laboratory, and supervising trauma anesthesia primarily in orthopedic cases. I reside in Fort Worth, where in my spare time I do volunteer work for several performing arts, social service, and educational organizations.
