Dr. Alizadeh began his career as a research associate at the Institute of Public Health Research, University of Tehran, Iran, where he worked from 1974-1977. He continued his research at the University of Maryland, College Park, Maryland, Department of Zoology, from 1982-1984. From 1984-1990, he worked as a research associate at the University of Texas Medical School, Houston, Texas, in the Department of Physiology and Cell Biology. He joined the research faculty of University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in 1990.
