Student Academic Assistance Services

Student Academic Assistance Services, offered by the Office of Medical Education, promotes the retention and advancement of UT Southwestern students through the curriculum, using a variety of support services, including:

  • Learning skills assessment and development
  • Academic advising and counseling
  • Support for students with disabilities
  • Tutoring
  • Stress management skills development
  • Remedial advisement
  • Student outreach activities
  • Referral assistance
  • USMLE preparation and advisement (individual consultations, planning seminars, and remediation assistance for second year medical students)
  • Summer Enrichment Program (a diversity initiative for incoming first year medical students)
  • Special courses (subject reviews, learning skills seminars)

Academic assistance services are available for students in the medical school, the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences, and the School of Health Professions.
