Community Psychiatry Focus

The Department of Psychiatry and the Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry are committed to prepare you to be deeply involved in the Dallas community. As a community psychiatry trainee, you will work with mentors on developing your community relationships while actively participating in ongoing clinical training at Children's Medical Center at Dallas. You will attend didactics and seminars of the Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship.

You will continue to expand our community outreach efforts in all areas of child psychiatry, including developmental disorders, youth offenders, and dual diagnosis. At the end of your training, you will be expected to complete a research project and a report for publication. The community psychiatry training is supported by a stipend from Dallas Metrocare Services.

In both the first and second year, you will participate in the Metrocare Continuity Outpatient Clinic (Pathways Clinic). In the second year, you will participate in two additional rotations: ECI/Autism Services and the Youth Offender Program.
