Honors and Awards

In addition to national prominence achievements listed on our faculty page, Pediatric faculty have also been honored with many other awards.

For instance, there is no higher honor for a teacher than to be honored by his or her students. Each autumn, the annual Excellence in Education Awards ceremony and reception is held on campus to honor faculty with awards presented by the student body. Below are listed the Pediatric award winners for 2010.

Recent Awards

Flores Earns National Pediatrics Research Award

Glenn Flores, M.D., Professor of Pediatrics and Clinical Sciences, received the Academic Pediatric Association’s 2012 APA Research Award in recognition of research excellence and achievement in pediatrics.

“Dr. Flores always has endeavored to conduct research that has the potential to have an immediate impact on children’s health,” said Marge Degnon, Executive Director of the APA.

In announcing the award, the APA said Dr. Flores’ research has focused on five key areas: Latino children’s health; culture and language in health care; improving the quality of care for underserved populations of children; prevention of pediatric hospitalizations; and racial or ethnic disparities in children’s health.

Dr. Flores holds the Judith and Charles Ginsburg Chair in Pediatrics.
