Patient populations at this clerkship site are ethnically and socioeconomically diverse. They seek care for a variety of medical problems, which represent the spectrum of care from newborns to geriatrics. The number of patients seen per day ranges from 30 to 40. Lab, x-ray, colposcopy, flexible sigmoidoscopy and rhinoscopy are available on site. Patients requiring hospitalization are admitted to Parkland Memorial Hospital, Children’s Medical Center, St. Paul University Hospital, or Zale Lipshy University Hospital.
Directions and Map
St. Paul University Hospital is on the corner of Harry Hines and Inwood Road. Parking is available to students in the surface lot across from St. Paul on Medical Center Drive and on the top floor of the visitor parking garage W1. This is a limited space lot so it is recommended that you either park there early or take one of the clinical shuttles.
From Professional Office Building 1, go through the double automatic doors and walk past the pharmacy. Immediately before you get to the Information Desk on your right (where Patient Service Ambassadors are available), take a right through the double doors marked “UT Southwestern University Hospital.” Continue straight all the way down this hallway to the Family Medicine Clinic. Signs will also be posted along the way to direct you.
